I went to visit my Riding Teacher in Portugal, who is like another mother to me for the weekend in the hope to find some inspiration for my Beaconsfield piece. I wanted to integrate nature, textures and cracks into my work but wanted to gain this from a place that I had a close connection with. I have visited Tiffany's every year since I was 11 and so thought that the textures in this land would have enough stories to tell for me to know which angle and part to take photos of.
I started to think about textures, the ground and foundations a lot while I was there and how we interact with these on a day to day basis. I then thought about walking from A to B, how we zone out and tend to look at the floor most of the time, subconsciously looking at the textures moving on the pavement.
